2021 Jimmy Lewis Flying Vm
5' 8" x 95 Litres
Due to shoulder surgery I'm selling my new 5'8" x 27" 95L Flying VM (only used 4 times) rail taped & good as new but only has a Tuttle box....
FLYING VM- Vitor Marcal, a North Shore lifeguard and one of the first guys who was foiling around 18 years ago when Laird and a few others were first doing it, was the first guy who asked me to use my expertise in design to make him a foil board with low drag when the board would come down off the foil.
The first thing I thought of that landed on water well was a seaplane. So I did a little research and shaped him a board with a similar bottom shape as a seaplane and that did the trick for him. Now, almost 20 years later I've resurrected that shape on the wing board models.
only do these boards re-direct the rider back up onto the foil with little or no drag when they touch down but they take off much easier and faster too. This unique bottom shape, along with the correct angle beveled rails, make for very low drag and extra lift as soon as the board has a little bit of forward motion.
FLYING V-The beveled chine rails provide easy lift-off and touch-down, and the tail lift keeps the tail clear when pumping.
These short lengths allow for much better performance, maneuverability, and glide once on foil and the extra width through the full outline of the board, especially the tail, gives you incredible stability, paddling and tracking for these short boards.
The rocker line was also designed with stability, tracking, and paddle speed in mind but also to not "stick" in the nose when coming down from the foil. The tail rocker is also very important in giving you that initial "pop" and water release to effortlessly get up on foil.
