Sorry if this is wrong place to post
Anyone got any reccomendations for one? I had a random thought, I want to ride on beach and tow a sup far away from the in crowd.
Before spending your cash it might be necessary to have a permit to use it on a public beach. Worth checking. Apparently some of them are good in sand with the appropriate tyres.

Permit, pfffft. How about you sort that one out for me buddy.
Just get any e bike. I ride my focus jam along the beach without blinking an eye. Got it up to 50km the other day
I was going to buy a norco Bigfoot hardtail but decided against it. So glad I did as the bike I chose is so much more versatile and does the soft stuff I originally wanted one for.
Ebikes are expensive as balls. Buy a petrol motorised bike, if you see anyone walking, just turn the engine off and they shouldnt complain. Most of em have 80cc engines so you should have plenty of grunt. I see them for like $200-400 on gumtree compared to $1000-$2000+ for an electric one.
Friends bought a couple of these and are very happy.. www.electricbikesuperstore.com.au/Electric_Bike_Types/Fat_eBikes/4inch-Fat-Tires-Folding-ebike
I've got this one in the Matt black, awesome bike you can fit board racks.

Last year I bought a few Ego Powerplus tools to do tasks on my farm. Through battery redemptions I ended up with four batteries and two chargers. Their batteries are rated at 56 volts. Ego are hinting at selling an e bike. They recently released a video of a fellow riding up a big hill in what looked like the French Alps in a Tour de France parody.
I've suggested to them they should make an off-road bike with fat tyres as they are a company selling garden & farm power tools.
People already make e bikes based on e bike motor and controller kits with an Ego battery and charger. The charger is modified to supply power to the motor and no longer works as a charger.
The reason for an e-bike is that I'm moving about 15 mins walk from beach in a rural area, but at the top of steep hill. Don't particularly want to walk board up hill or strap to car and drive board down there. I think I'll need a 500w. Was also thinking a postie bike could do job well.
Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner!!
Probs don't even need to have it licensed. How cool would it be to have the old ag version with hi/lo range?!
I know, I'm brilliant! I just remembered I have an old aqaintence who mods em. Check out these bad boys:

please tell me you carry a 9 footer in that rack!
Anything less just wouldn't be cool [longer = better]
Many years ago, City Beach surf club had a WW2 paratroopers motorcycle - was great fun trundling up and down the beach with me on Dad's shoulders
I am pretty sure it either carried or towed a surfboard at some stage.
go for a 26' one as the 20" will bog in really soft sand. also don't be a lazy ** and just get a pedal one . with the change you could buy a nice board and rack. go for latest 4.9or 5" tyres not the ancient 4"
I ride a specialized turbo levo, awesome for downhill riding, easy to turn off the speed limited with just the bluetooth through your phone, and can then do 50kmh+, I ride it along the beach without a drama, the tyres are only 2.5 wide by 27.5 diameter.
I've just bought this ebike from Surfland Warehouse - sister shop to Stand Up Shop in Freo. It's my second ebike (first one was a DIY build and recently stolen) and I'm stoked with the purchase. Integrated lights incl rear brake light, disk brakes, torquey motor and fast enough for fanging down to the shops for milk/bread/beer.
The front rack is functional - I'm using a cut down cardboard box to carry loose items.

Three of these rode past my house yesterday. I didn't get a chance to ask what they were and how much.

Least terrifying bike gang ever... did they hurl abuse about your foil wing shim angle as they quietly rolled off?
I just bought one of these for $1,595 from the Melbourne Electric Bike Superstore.
good price - probably would have been a lot more if it didn't have an FJ cruiser connected to it...

That is a pretty cool looking ebike. What sort of range does it have?
I have been building electric bikes for about 12 years now with my current ride about 5 years old and I don't know how many k's are on it but I have put about 8 new sets of tyres on it in that time. The first 2 photos are of my very first build around 2010 with a 6kW RC brushless motor running through a reduction gearbox to a CVD on the wheel hub, you can change the gearing ratio on the fly under load. Dam thing would pull a wheelie off the start and would top out at 65k's until the motor would just rev out with no load so it had a a lot more top end. The batteries in the red boxes I made up and still have to this day with very little loss in capacity.
I now just have a 4000w bike that cruises nice at 50k's and gets easy 30k range at that speed and is bullet proof. I went away from suspension in favor of fat tyres as the ride especially in the wet just felt more secure. I also went away from aluminum frames and use steel because of the stresses put through the frames any failure will be hopefully noticeable rather than the sudden fracture of aluminum. Was using the bikes to commute to work daily to beat the traffic and save on petrol, I think it cost me about 10c a day for the charge. These batteries charge in about 15 minutes when I put 20amps into them which is so much better that the average cells that Ebikes come with these days.
When buying a Ebike make sure you get good cells which are just as important than the bike and get the higher voltages if available.

The specs say 30-50 klms
A few days ago I towed my 40 kg dog and rode for two hours and got home with one bar out of five on the gauge.

Why you towing your dog?
presumably DJ cant fit in the trailer / dog has difficulty operating the throttle and brakes
