In WA at least, after 14 days self iso, are we allowed to sail down south and anchor off quindalup with no reason to go ashore, fully self sufficient? Or is that too far from medical, if any available, help?
I know they'll probably stop road traffi heading down there.
or should we just stay at home. The boat would pretty isolated.
cheers

It's a good question. My boat is my home and I'm officially of no fixed address in NSW.

You can eat that pigface weed growing on the shore as well, but as Crocodile Dundee said "Tastes like sht but you can live on it"

I found these to love birds in the past couple of hours they won't be on my menu. They are feeding on cape barren geese and fish. I'm now day one personal choice self isolation.

Day one isolation and already thinking about eating the local wildlife, thinking ahead...I like it.
My Nan used to make Sparrow Pie during the war, with the aid of the kitchen colander, some string, a twig and some breadcrumbs.

Mmm, the bush turkeys are looking rather good. Need a bigger colander though.

This is already being monitored in QLD by maritime police.
Visits to arriving yachts, from NSW, usually occur within the hour with instructions on quarantine being given then.

That's fair enough that's because borders are closed. If we go in lockdown I don't want to sit in the marina for weeks!

here in nz they dont want boaties going out n about. im up in bay of islands. glad i left auckland when i did a few weeks ago. I was at a marina living aboard the last 6 months and the police have told boaties with boats there they cant take em out. The marina have shut the amenities and dont want anyone living there. Dont know whats happening.
A guy i know went to great barrier islands. counted 750 boats in fitzroy harbour.
My friend and i are convinced that this is it folks. Theyre finally doing it. They will shut all production and money will be useless.
I am in an amazing spirituoal place. between two major sites of maori. Waitangi and flagstaff hill. The owners of the house im painting have self contained accom so im staying here overlooking my boat anchored in the bay. Tonnes of empty moorings too...
But here is an international jump off point. I was the marina which is also the customs dock for a week. Its full of people stuck here from all over.
People i bought the boat off are on their new boat stuck in Guadelupe. Not allowed to sail away only allowed at anchor and ashore to get supplies. Crazy.
Theres monitoring too. In the usa different states get points for whos not moving around the most. All using gps tech and the new towers they put up. Internets getting glitchy. That new 5 G network wasnt made for us. It was made to control us. Radiate and even start fires, change weather.
Get off the grid and do it asap.

Thanks for your story. I wouldn't get Dome and gloom though mate things should recover eventually. I would rather be at anchor and allowed to shop than locked in a house or in the marina this is why I put my action plan in early and departed the marina. I will be berth rental and go in to press up my water tanks if need be.

If you where say sitting in a harbour on the north coast of nsw the present weather conditions would be advantages to a voyage north. Now I'm not saying that I've seen any such departures, but if your well provisioned and don't log on with VMR none would be the wiser, international flagged vessel would attract attention I guess though, and of course there's the usual clearing into the country / quarantine bla bla. The closing of boarders in the like of tweed heads is farcical, as is outback crossings, it's a state gov feel good thing. The recent arrivals from overseas is the big issue and our esteemed leaders are starting to jump on it.

Aloe makes a very poor version of tequila, yes it will ferment and yes it will get you sh1t faced but to make real tequila you need blue agave, a similar looking plant.
Now on the other hand if you were to use those Aloe plants, get 80ml Aloe Vera gel then add 170ml rubbing alcohol @70-99% strength plus a few drops of essential oil for scent (optional) then you have made a reasonably decent hand sanitiser and make a tidy income in the current shortage.

There you have it.
Marine Rescue go to the trouble of spelling out the service that they will supply in these difficult times and the first comment was
"Can you catch it off seagulls?" Total disregard of the message.

Look everyone. This is serious. It is not a conspiracy. It is not a scam. It is not a power grab.
It is a virus that humans have no antibodies to resist.
And with the Spanish flu of 100 years ago it could very easily mutate into something much much worse,
Your kids and grandkids could be at serious risk.
Take this as seriously as you would a storm warning. Don't go out.
