Just got a dutone 5m and comes with a wrist coil leash. I've never found coil leashes a very good option however I'm sure it will be fine for the wing. I have seen other options on clips online though... e.g.
Wrist with straight leash
Waist belt with coil
Waist belt with straight leash

Waist with straight leash looked to offer the best option but wondering what others have preference for (and why). Many thanks for the input!

Balin storm 7ft waist. Attach wingding leash to waist harness. See similar thread with links

Yeah the DT leash is terrible , best I found is the Ozone Wasp leash but you can't buy it as a part , so I use a longer style boogie board leash. Not sure about a waist leash for when you come off in the surf it could wrap around you or your neck . Off the wrist in my opinion is the best .

Thanks Hilly. Crap, apologies if I've started a double up thread....
Piros, fair call on the waist leash in waves point....
Will be doing a few closed water sessions to get the feel (sup/prone foil competent though)....so maybe waisty to start, then 'amended' wristy once on the waves...

I had way more issues with it on my wrist as it is up around your face, neck and hands while gybing. Safer around waist with quick release in easy reach.

A small tip I have read: use very different colors for the cords of the wing & board leashes. Can be very helpful in case of tangles.

From my understanding the Ozone Wasp wrist leash can be purchased by itself.

Just avoid a straight wrist leash. They love to wrap around necks.

If you connect your wrist leash to your waist leash and the waist leash comes free, be prepared to swim in.

Ozone leash is straight and it is great to use. I do it up tight on the waist leash so at least board and wing stay together. I always hang onto the wing in a wipe out. Had to on windsurfer no leashes there, have had some very long swims.always have the ability to swim from where ever you are.

There is a guy on eBay who makes some very cool custom leashes. Can get a waist leash with multiple attachment points for the 2 leashes if that's your thing.

Personally I didn't like both leashes to the waist found I got more tangled. Now run a 6ft straight leash off my wrist for the wing and a the aboves figure 8 for the board. Yes at first the found the wrist least a bit how you going especially jibing but a heavier leash sorted that.

Some valuable insights there folks. Good safety considerations, and just personal preferences..... 'horses for courses' as they say. Will run with the supplied coil leash but seems like it really comes down to just trying the different waist/wrist, straight/coiled combos to see what feels best/safest....many thanks!

Many are treating it like a windsurfer or kite board and not using a leash. www.instagram.com/p/B6v8wdKH_VG/?igshid=ujif1eu892zt

Boards with foils and swell..... amazing how fast they move away from you.

So do kite boards. Heaps are lost.
