Hi all,

I am 3 sessions in with my wind wing. I think all sessions have been underpowered (or not enough technique!). I drift downwind on each tack. Not by much but enough to be a pain to walk back up wind with all the gear. Are there any good ways to carry it all back? I could do with 3 arms! If I carry the sup and foil as I would normally (one hand on the sup handle, one on the fuselage) I cannot find a comfy position for the wing without it trailing on the ground. Hopefully this stage of not holding ground wont last long but in the meantime, any tips?

Thanks

New wing ding sups have handle in the bottom. I just carry the board and let the wing ding beat itself to death behind me as I walk upwind.

In an onshore I have the board upside down , I stand on the left side of the board , drop my right shoulder under the foil wing and stand up , carry the weight of foil wing and board across my shoulder and behind my neck. I hold the base of the mast with my right hand. My left hand is free to hold the flying wing. Surprisingly effective over short distances ( entering / exiting water , bringing everything into car park etc ). Not sure I'd like to walk up the beach for a long distance using this technique though ! Try it and see how you go

What I find works best for sup foils generally: mast on your shoulder, foil wings forward, hunch forward a little and weight of board is on your back.

With wing, reach other hand over shoulder and hold the front handle on wing. The leading edge rests against the board (no sharp bits), the wind holds it up, so no weight.

Thats great everyone. All sound better than what I have been doing. I'll give it a go next session.

wing upside down board on its side - grab sup and wing front handles together at the same time with one hand and the foil with the other. Its a tad tricky if the wind is bang on but I usually manage.

I put a few sand bags out. One where I might end up and one way up wind where I usually start. I'm in a kite launch zone so we only have about 50 meters to ride in near the beach. So if I end up down wind a bit, I can leave the board on the beach and go put the wing on a sandbag then go get the board. A bit of a run around but once you learn to go up wind, you'll just use the down wind bag for when things go wrong. I don't like leaving a wing attached to a board I've had the wind gust strong enough to flip a board over. Otherwise do a big down winder, deflate and walk up.
