So mucking around with this KD maui balance technique last night with a sprit level and everything (totally geeking out much to the amusement of my son Antman - who said wisely "why dont you just ride it and make it work, kook").

anyhow. when picking it up - and guessing the front foils center of lift - man just a small change in your guess can have a big impact on the board level! especially as it was on a prone board.

Plus being the HS 1250 armie. its relatively flat through the chord profile.

So does anyone have a more rigorous method for making this educated guess on the foils center of lift a much better guess - rather than a "third" of the distance from the front of the foil

very hard to predict the exact center of lift, it varies quite a bit between different wing sweep, speed, and foil section. Add the tail effect to that and its even harder. on most wings, 50% chord at the center is close enough. After that its more about tuning it while riding!
It seems weird that the small relative weight of the board can make such a difference but its pretty amazing how well this works.
The only case where this isn't as applicable is when using 2 straps winging (still recommended) and prone or sup downwind foiling (I like slammed forwards).

Yeh bit slammed forward On the FG armie new boards is .. Well forward. Yeh will just take the 50 percent mark then fine tune from there. Cheers.

Im no expert ok, but the thickest position on the chord would be my best guess closer to the centre line given there is a bit of sweep back on some foils. interesting to measure this position and transfer it to the board, All the Armie foils are different by about 60mms.
What may complicate things is that different chord shapes produce lift at a different position. Like you Ive been balancing the set up using a level on the board and hold the foil with my figer tips. Seems to work out ok.
