Can any fanatic SUP owners tell me if I need to do anything with the breather crew in my new board, or is it a gortex type where I can just leave it alone. I have a 2020 6'7 foil SUP.
cheers.

If it's black or grey plastic hex it's goretex.
If it has a slot for screwdriver then it needs to be opened.
Haven't seen the new Fanatic ones though

Goretex however cannot be just "left alone" they do eventually clog or fail. Wash it with fresh water after every session and leave board upside down for a bit

Thanks, I unscrewed it and it's just a stainless screw with an o ring, so I guess you leave it open in hot weather or while out of the water.Just have to remember to tighten it before using.

You don't ever have to open it, unless you take it on an airplane, or do something dumb that bakes it to an extreme level. Like locking inside a hot car while you're at work all day. More people ruin boards by forgetting to tighten the screw, than damage from heat.

^^^ for many people that the case but extremes of heat and cold will still shorten the life of the board somewhat even if it doesn't pop. As a windsurfer I always undo mine - as a repairer I've seen too many popped boards (or even imploded from hitting cold water after heat)
