Epic. Stoked it got there safe! Just a heads up only 1 kalama board left in Oz.

Very soon i hope
6-footer arrived safe and sound today. Light and well made.
Nice one Hilly! Let us know how you go with it. I would be interested to know about the stability, paddling and wave catching abilities. I am about your weight and looking to go from a 6'5" down to 6'0 sup foil some time soonish.

I put it over my 6 6, which I like and will keep, and it did not look tiny next to it. Has more volume 125 v 131 than my 6 6. Weight is like the Smik. The main reason I got it was I want to have one board for wing and sup, almost got an Armstrong but supply was an issue. This ticks a lot of boxes, but the proof will be in the paddling, it will wing easy.
Looks good Hilly let us knpow how it goes
This guy is good on them www.instagram.com/tv/CVdsJF1o0pw/?utm_medium=copy_link
I currently have the V2 6'6" 139L love great board for a heavy rider at 225lb was tinkering with the idea of downsizing to the new V3 6'0" 131L but those rails and tail look like they be fairly tippy for a big guy any comparisons on the 2 boards stability wise like the idea of less swing weight but at what cost for stability and catching waves as see quite a few guys downsizing too much struggling

I am 105kg the 6 footer floats me no worries. I dinged it and was impressed. Had a quick paddle and it was stable but slow to paddle. Flat water only will report back when I have caught waves. The chimes give excellent clearance for turns.

Had a good ding on it today. Very happy

How's it differ from your Smik?
Do you sup with out a foil anymore?
Sold your 1850, 1125 fills the gap?
Cheers,
Goggo
Totally different shape to the Smik. Thinker, shorter and width further forward. Chimes allow amazing angles in turns and touch downs are really soft. Pops up really well. Yet to sup foil in waves however.
I only sup foil now.
I have a 1550 V2 and a 1250, both clipped. Waiting for a 1325. The 1125 was a touch small for me at 105kg.

Thanks Hilly,
I only have V2 1550, clipping would improve hard turns?
Would like a 1250 and 1850 (or
1125?)
Going for new board first, 5' to 6' around 115 L.
Any suggestions?
5 to 6 feet in length around 115 L for my 95 Kg. Bit off topic because my budget is around $1500. Not going to get a Kalama for that.
Had a few solid sessions SUP foil in decent waves. Stoked
For a 6-foot board it paddles well, amazingly stable and catches waves better than I feared it would. As expected, my 6 6 has more paddle power due to the extra length making it better in steep take offs, but not by much. Touch downs are a breeze with little or no effect on speed.
Pumping feels better than the 6 6, not that I am an amazing pumper, but it feels easier to stay on small waves and I get a bit further out than I used too when I exit a wave.
Banged it about on rocks getting in and out of the water, run into reef a few times while foiling and belted the rails with the paddle with no ill effects yet, so passes the toughness test. Being so light I did worry about toughness.
Only issue I have is I am struggling to get the front foot strap in exactly the right place, there are heaps of options. Due to the short thick design, it is extremely sensitive to foot placement, it would be the same for any thick design - reasoning behind dugout decks is to minimize thickness to help control. Really close to the perfect spot now so hopefully next session is perfect.
Anyone on one of the downwind models yet?
They all sold out after I posted 1 clip on Instagram. They'll be reports coming in soon.
Very soon i hope

Nice rig Hilly! I've got the 5'10". 2 questions for you (and anyone else, please.)
1. Being a prone foiler and just really getting into the sup foil thing, I'm finding the board heavy. Mine weighs 16.5lbs without straps. If I get the foil adjusted just right, the balance on foil is fine, but it's a lot of weight to move around. What does yours weigh (Just used the bathroom scale and picked it up...)?
2. I've got the 13.5 KD tail. On more powerful waves, I feel the tail provides a bit of appreciated drag and that turns are more powerful. Small waves, I can't get it to feel fast. I've played around with it a bit, and just 1mm makes a pretty noticeable difference in terms of front wing lift being more extreme or mellow, but it still has drag. When you shim it, in regards to parallel with the fuse, is your trailing edge level to the leading edge, up, or down?
The board itself is really solid. Feels like a Cobra made windsurfer, as opposed to a lightweight custom. Paddling is ok. but the short length and extra boyancy makes all the chop and rebound currents of my spot perhaps more noticeable than if the volume was reduced for the same length. Takes off on waves very well as the paddling point and foil balance are matched. I haven't used foot straps before, but I imagine doing so will make the extra weight far less of an issue until walking back on the beach. I wish it were 2 lbs lighter, on the other hand, I'm quite sure the board will last, and stay looking new, far longer than most 12-14 lbs boards. Problem is I have so much fun on the thing I stay out until I'm gassed and can barely walk back to the car!
Weight sounds about right they are a big board. I use negative 1 rear shim so it gives lift and drag. Helps turn the large board.
Hey can anyone who has either a 5'10 or 6ft Kalama take a width measurement at the tail of the board please?

Width at tail on the deck is 40cm and 36/37cm at the top of the horizontal face in picture (which is upside down)

Thanks Cameron graham! How so you find that cutout tail? Are you finding it increases speed? Assists in takeoffs? Looks good? Good for ramming things when backing up?
It would be cool to see a few pics of the chine and rocker too if possible. It's such a rad looking board.
Has anyone tried the 5'2" x 28" @105L. I'm on a 5'7 @105L and generally pretty good unless it's really washy (inlet/tidal bumps and wind). Unfortunately, that board was poorly made and already delam'ed so while it's useable after repair, less than ideal. Looking at getting a Kalama, but 5'2" sounds pretty small.
I'm around 175-180 lbs most of the time, 78-81 kg. and on a GF GL210 for now, about to switch that up as well. Thanks!
@105kg plus wetty I am on a starboard takeoff 5 2 91l. Is easy if conditions good hard when whishy washy. The Kalama 5 2 looks good with more float.

Interesting deck hardware!
Is it related to this pic of yours below? What are we looking at here?
