Kyle Maligro just killed it prone paddling into a DW run at the Gorge using his standard prone foil board (no Kalama special). Watch this clip and enjoy the ride and laugh along the way:

Has this ever been done at the Gorge (or elsewhere)? Is it the wind against the current that allows a prone paddle-in?
This is crazy stuff. Open Google Maps and look how far upstream Hood River/The Gorge is. Extraordinary place, huge watersport location. It is something to kite/wing/foil in fresh water.
This is not wind vs swell, it's the hot air from the east the funnels downstream so it's wind generate swell.
Young guy Jake Jensen did this at Hood about 3 or 4 years back on one of our 3'10 boards with i think at the time the IWA gofoil wing. Wasn't easy to get up but doable for him. If there is ever a place to do it Hood river would be it, we spend quite a bit of time there and it is by far the easiest place to DW foil that i have been to.
Nathan (sunova boards) was telling me in Exmouth during a session - he gets in I think at city beach, chips into a wave heads out to sea then Goes down to trigg on his 27 litre prone. Says it's hell sketchy as he dare not fall Off. He also does the ferry run stuff on the Swan. Some crazy mofos out there hey with some crazy ass skills.

Funny, that's pretty much how I first came across him last Summer seeing this dude just blasting downwind 500m out while I was filming a kiter with the drone on the beach

Hopefully we can figure out a way to tow in the windswell on my Flite next season to unlock some massive downwinders on his prone board

I've crossed paths with Nath a few times whilst I've been wing downwinding, I'm pretty sure he's done the full send, City Beach to Sorrento on the prone a couple of times.
It gets a bit sketchy after Trigg as there is not as many places to find a wave to chip in.
Anyone that has tried downwind foiling on a SUP will appreciate how hard it would be to get up and foiling on a prone board, once up though it would be insane fun.
