If you missed the news item - a horrifying event for the foiler Christian Bungate being bumped off his board by a shark at Cabarita on the Goldie, then falling on top of it! Good news is he's OK, with a reminder of the attack left stuck in this foil. Might start a new generation of foilers up there? At the moment the Goldie's not the place you'd be too happy dangling your legs sitting on your 25 litre shortboard as the sun sets.

While the foil board may have prevented the shark from attacking him, Mr Bungate said he had heard reports sharks can be attracted by the board's vibrations.

Daryl McPhee, a shark expert from Bond University, said it was possible the sound of the board could draw a shark.
