So I'm on an LOL 1600 right now with aluminum gear and getting ready to upgrade to the kujira. I'm 215 lbs and the 1600 has worked for me pretty much everything except the biggest days. Some things I'm trying to sort out:

Will Takuma ever put out a shorter fuselage?

How does the carbon mast handle the larger wings? Is it going to be too flexy for a large rider?

Can you feel the difference between the masts when you are riding?

Should I get the 1210 with carbon, or the 980 and 1210 with aluminum? I'm not sure how much use the 980 would get with my size, but throwing my money at something I'll never notice would be silly too.

Would the 1210 plus the 1300 LOL be a better combo for my size?

The carbon mast and boom is a big improvement over the aluminium. An extra 5cm in mast length makes a big difference. The mast does flex but isn't noticeable when foiling.
I haven't tried the kujira foils yet but the 1300 lol is a lot of fun. Has good speed and is really carvey. It would be a great foil in the surf.
Most of the time I ride the 1600 for winging and downwinding. The smaller surf tail, shimmed, also results in a big improvement in performance over the standard tail.

The carbon mast is tapered so the flex is down low where you want it . The 980 rides way above its size actually pumps better than the 1300 . I'm 88 - 90kg and very happy on the 1300 . Haven't tried the new 1210 but at a guess that would be a better pick for you . There is also a 1400 Kujira. The 980 is amazing performance for its size ..... it's more like incredible performance for its size . The Kujira front wings come with the new rear wing as well . Which makes them very expensive but definitely worth the money .

Piros, at 98 kg do you think I would I be better served with a 1210 and a carbon mast or the 980 and 1210 with the aluminum?

FWIW I've just traded in the 980 for a 1210. Only limited experience but the 980 has some magical amount of lift and glide for such a tiny wing. But it is still a small wing, so for me at 12 st on a 5'9" x 26 3/4" board, coming from around a year on the 1600 LOL as my main wing, I found it needed a decent amount of energy to get going, + some technique upgrade. Prone it went really well, and I guess it would be great winging in windier conditions, but I'm 90% SUP foiling. Really liked its character and the pump ability is definitely a step up, but felt slightly too small for what I need most of the time.

Interestingly really noticed the decrease in secondary stability when paddling around. Felt like I'd gone down a board size.

12 Stone, but into UK winter, so increasing amounts of neoprene.

1210 with carbon the 980 is not really meant for a Sup , it works on the wingding though.

Took the standard 300 tail to the chop shop today as it's been sitting unused for ages now.
I was wanting a tail to suit the 1300 better as I felt the 270 tail was still too big for it.
It feels pretty close to being right now with the span at 320mm and the foil runs fast and free. It's not as pretty, but it works better imo.
