Just a question as to whats happened to all the wind wing talk? A lot of people must have there wings by now so keen to hear the feed back as to if people are using them and for what?

I had thought about stocking some but keen to hear if it is still all the hype all if now people have got them they are maybe not what they thought?

Still waiting for mine. They all seem delayed. Bit of chatter on supzone as I think Hawaii got some.

End of month Jacko for Doutone , I believe all pre ordered stock at SurFX is sold out . I'm still waiting in line for a 4m . This is my day 4 on it couple of weeks back. There is also an F1 Foil wing video where the riders are doing so good airs airs here is the Facebook link:-

www.facebook.com/james.grundy.39589/videos/10157203029115516/

and here is the latest Robbie Naish clip:-

www.facebook.com/RobbyNaishUS1111/videos/686149231846885/

Josh from Slingshot said their's are only a few more weeks away as well. You can order Signature direct really well priced , Naish are on the shelves & the Cabrhina still a couple of months yet. So overall still very hard to get plus it's winter no point in rushing. I personally think come summer they will be everywhere. Heaps of fun and in only just a couple of short months it's gone from a novelty that everyone was bagging , to a whole new realm of foiling.

Naish USA just charged my card and my wing should ship tomorrow. I talked to Naish in Oregon today, they just got the first 75 wingsurfers from the first production run. So stoked!

Naish have sold 300 in Aus from word on the street so no one has one?

Kinda makes me think Naish sold 300 to the shops and the shops are sitting on stock or maybe everyone is to busy wind winging and to tried to type.

Just thought I would have seen some around but not really the case. If 300 were sold from Naish plus some that have made there way to Aus from other brands you would think someone would post about how much fun it is?

it just seemed to go crazy and then nothing at all.

Those that are doing it what problems have you come across? has anyone on a foil run over the wing yet? Do most people find it easy once they get into some bumpy water?

I made my own about 6 months ago but it was quite crude and i struggled in the real messy water and ending up sinking it(sorry any sea turtles)

Haha watching people jump on these is so funny and I do think just buy a kite as you will go so much higher but this is just me coming from a kiting background.

I will wait and see I guess for when the rest of the brands get them in and see if the ball starts rolling again.

If anyone wants one hit me up as I can get a pretty good one and keen to do a few deals to get some on the water to see if it's a future thing I should stock!!

I've got a naish 4m wing.
Had it about four weeks now, it was one of the first batch in WA. Used it about 5 sessions in winds from 12knots to 30knots. It works real good.

Pros
Light - canopy is 2.2kg total
Quick set up - 30 seconds ready to go
Flies upwind easily when using a foil

Cons
need at least 15knots to get going.
however once up and flying it's easy to pump through the lulls using leg pumps and a bit of wing flapping.

Board used:
125 Sunova DW
axis 102 and 820.

Why use it?
More water time
Learning to ride switch on foil.
Easy Setup
Get that foil feeling without the car shuffle problem.
use it on the river in Winter when it's blowing offshore on the coast.

We've had a couple of shop guys and a stray punter out wth wing things (Naish and Duotone) and various SUPs and SUP foils.

Not a lot of success so far but no epic fails. A bit of bouncing along on the foils and some sailing along on 12-14' SUPs.

I waved the Duotone wing around in light wind. It felt weird and uncontrollable until a puff of wind powered it up, then it felt ok.

It seems there's a new lie we can add to the list. "The cheque's in the mail." "I will respect you in the morning." "Robbie Naish says you can get going and have fun in 8 knots."

Yep totally agree solid 15knots to learn on these things. Less is just agony.

For me that is perfect, do not need a light wind option. Looking to use it in good wind and de-power when on the wave which kites do not do well with foils.

Had the naish for about 2 weeks think the first batch here was sold out...6 I think.
used it 3 times, twice in winds under 10 knots and once in around 20.
i def think this one needs around 15knots at least for a beginner anyway.
i used it on a hover120 crossover with quads and once on the foil but it was
difficult as I hadn't foiled a sup before..
really enjoyed the brief occasions there was enough wind and hanging to see
what the weekend brings.

Mine is somewhere between here and Swansea. Just had 2 days of glassy perfect foiling waves at my local. A 4m Takuma should arrive along with 15-20 mph winds in time for the weekend. Que more making an arse of myself in public.

Still saving the cash for one. Had to buy a cheap drone that put my savings even further behind.
But thought oh well, might get some more reviews & comparisons in the mean time.
So far its the Naish due to its paddle holder & pack up size. And oh it comes with a pump.
Still haven't seen any comparisons between the brands regarding speed & control.
I would also like to know what companies / shops have them actually in stock because when I have enough for a purchase I will want it sent within a day.
Good to see Surf fx get them in & for an online purchase sooner than others. Nothing worse than paying & waiting for them to finally arrive in a month or two. I can't understand it when kites are virtually overstocked.

You won't hear much from the US....we are last in the world to get any. Only a few samples, in a few select shops.

It will be Fall here before they are easy to buy.

2nd time out last Sunday in gusty westerly winds on the Swan River wind around 18knots.
Managed several flights ranging up to a couple hundred meters.
lots of fun and quite easy to use in the stronger winds as depowering is east.
looking forward to the next front!!!

The Wings are going BIG!

Yes Jacko we have a lot sold (closer to 400), and in general most of these are sold in stores also, unfortunately the mass demand has caught the factory unable to keep up with demand. Our orders of 200 (x3) at a time are being drip fed in lots of 35 and 45. Many people have them now, and I am sure as they work it out, we'll see tonnes more on the media feeds.

After using the wing now for a few months, I am totally hooked. You will get much more efficient at getting going in light winds. Yes 12-15kn is best for learning, but eventually you'll be going super early. Working your foil more than the wing is key for pumping and don't be against using giant Foils to glide easy in the super light stuff. I have a heap of fun on the 2450 in next to nothing, but as soon as it's 12kn, the 1650 is more fun. The 2000 is a good bet for bigger guys until you get efficient. The key thing is speed, the smaller foil lets you get your speed up which in turn gets your apparent wind up.

Surfing is a whole other thing, playing on swells and endless DW runs with the ability to scoop back upwind in seconds. You can DW all day and not have to do car drops.

Airs and freestyle are now getting pretty cool also. we are very much just at the very infancy of the WING. If you get the chance, I strongly recommend getting into it.

It is taking us further and further away from crowded breaks and long paddles. Self towing in by nature and going just about anywhere.

Next shipment of Naish WIng-Surfer is due in stores 15th September.

Soo good!!!

Ride safe,

JB

The reports I've heard say that ozone and fone are the best in show so far... Most powerful for size. But you pay for the privilege!

Set up this page to get some interest here in VIC... I'm trying to get out as much as possible when the wind is up... based down around Bonbeach but willing to travel for good conditions...
