Greetings all. I'm at the point in my wing dinging where I would like to start using a harness with my F-One Swing. I'm about 15 sessions in, I can do flying jibes both switch and regular and can ride switch and toe side along with regular. I haven't used a harness before but I feel it could be helpful for running back up wind. I see many offering from different brands with different configurations. Soft shell and hard shell, waist and seat, fix spreader bar and moving spreader bar. I would be grateful for any advice, thanks in advance.

Fixed spreader. Super soft and flexible, minimal support.

The load on the harness is feather light compared to windsurfing and kiting, so support is NOT primary.

Instead you can go for mobility over rigidity. Try some, bend over, move around.

I'm using Dakine Cameleon with seat attachment removed and thrown away. Because that harness was the softest, with the most mobility of all the ones I tried on. It's been working great. Don't even know it's there. Easy to bend over and climb on board and do knee starts.

The Dakine Cameleon is a great light weight harness and is very comfortable.

Just started using a harness and makes upwinding much more comfortable. Usually use sliding harness for kiting but fixed works fine for winging. Only thing I can add from my limited experience is make sure the spreader bar hook does not protrude to much as does get in the way when clambering back on board. I use a da kine pyro. Heaps of cheap good second hand harnesses under seabreeze for sale kiting accessories.

Could see this being a potential board killer, especially a super lightweight one.
