I have been learning for the last few months on an 85 x 30 130 litre Takuma board. Very comfortable and happy to not have started smaller I am 85 kg and are now getting a shorter board made so will see how that goes. I tried a 78 converted minion board at 118 l and that felt unstable to paddle.

so I got myself a 5'9 Takuma - and its surprisingly easy to ride at112l - I wish I had tried straps before too - I really think they are helping me get my pump on - but the bevels may be the thing too. Crazy easy compared to my converted SMIK

Magic. I'm on the point of giving straps a proper try, good to hear you're progressing well.
Thats a fair old drop down, but I think foil specific board make a big difference.
Had a session on my converted Hokua the other day and it just felt way heavy, big and just generally more difficult to get up on the foil, catchy and harder work. Back on the JP today and everything felt right.

Another advantage is you can spin a shorty in a second - I know it's my bad technique that stops me from being able to spin the longer board but when you have spent ages getting in the right spot - it's nice not to worry about losing balance during the spin. So it's great to be able to catch something that jacks up quickly
