I'll just keep making good boards for people to use with the wings as i don't really need to get into the inflatable toy industry

Duotone have the Patent on the boom. My crystal ball is we are going to see different wings for lawn mowing / surf and Downwind specific wings.

Their windows look more useful than duotone which are too far back. But Windows = heavy

If you felt like you wanted a boom to hold on a naish or similar you could probably just lash a carbon paddle onto the handles and use that or does someone have a patent on string and knots?

I carried my mate's Doutone after handling my Ozone yesterday. Fairly noticeable weight difference there.

I believe that's being disputed - some of the guys here were riding prototypes in 2011 which had booms (and filed patent)....
I think you will see more wings with booms in the future.

I have not tried it, but it seems to me that you would still have the issue of a loose connection between the "boom" and the strut, and the same "indirect" feeling than handles.

PeterP I heard some rumblings about that as well , will be interesting to see what comes of it . Pretty well proven now this is not a fad , it's like the introduction of kite surfing all over again . Here is a really good article on it .

Can't say the weight is noticeable on the Duotone unless there is no wind. Wind does the job of carrying it.

There does seem to be a 1000 and 1 options out there, china seems to be very happy to sell direct too these days.

No loose connections on the duotone colas. Can't imagine the connections would get as loose as the handles would over a season.

No, I was speaking of tomooh idea of "lash[ing] a carbon paddle onto the handles"

Interesting wing in the background color Orange and red. Looks like a sandwich design between fone swing and other wide cord wings www.instagram.com/p/B7T-gannfuU/?igshid=1ma1qg7iwgtyv

Looks like lots of brand wings and sizes are coming out and hopefully be competitive to gong prices.

Pretty sure it's the new Air-rush / Starboard wing.

that's one of them and at this stage I'm looking at the gong (savings ~$500 ) as my next big wing unless there's a better deal.
Yes, R & D, all that jazz costs, lifestyle and in the game (are you). I would think that the more options/competition available the better the price would be though instead the price hikes up and it should be the opposite.

Would be interesting to see if that holds up. 7m = 649,00 Euro ($1050) minus VAT plus shipping plus GST and Customs charges.
Not sure you are going to save $500. What happens when there is an issue with it?

yeah would be interesting to see what the 7M worth on other brands compare to gong? The warranty or any issue is a risk dependent and debatable.

6m F One is $1499 and Ozone when it comes will be similar. Bet if you walked in with cash you could get a deal Review wise Gong are not that powerful so 6m is probably equivalent. But never used a Gong so only 3rd hand info.

agree, I bought the Ozone 4M and its a keeper and because the deal was good enough not to buy the gong 4M

When I first decided I wanted to get into foiling last year, I spent about 2 months researching everything I could about boards and foils as I a bigger guy at 115kegs so not everything was going to be suitable, while researching I kept coming across the Wing Ding and after seeing videos decided I needed some of that action as well, just gave me another option to get more time on the foil SUP, so the research started again.

I looked at everything available, the Duotone, Naish, Ozone, Gong.........list goes on as there were quiet a lot of companies putting their Wings on the market around November last year. I'd had Duotone/North kites and they were great, good build quality and nice to fly but the whole boom thing put me off with the Wing. I was impressed with the Gong especially with the new version they were putting out and the price was attractive given I was going to fork out upwards of 3k for a SUP and foil. I ended up leaning towards the Naish after talking to guys who had one but when I got my SUP and foil I checked out the WASP and Naish together. I went with the WASP 6m given my size and glad I did. I'm still very much in the learning stage but the WASP is great for me. I got a really good deal on the price given I'd paid out 3k+ already on SUP/Foil/Paddle.......
I'll probably get a 4m at some stage as I improve and my son is having a go with me which is awesome so the smaller Wing will be better for him and give me more options. What brand I'm not sure will see what has evolved in the industry in the next few months I'm open to other brands, comes down to what suits me and I like at the time.
As with all my other watersports over the years Surfing/windsurfing/Kiting/SUP, the need for upgrading or changing gear for different conditions and experience evolves. I found with all the above I've added different gear for different conditions, no one thing fits all! different size surfboards/wind surf boards/sails/kites....... etc for different conditions and as I progress so I'm guessing the same will evolve with the Wing.
More gear for different conditions just means more water time and that's got to be a good thing!..............maybe not for the bank account or wife/Girlfiend but for me its all good!

All I need now is to win lotto so I can spend less time working to pay for it all and more time on the water playing with the gear!
