I made this vid up for "theBike" from another thread.
Small waves...... but looking at the amazing conditions in the beginning makes me happy.
Back story:
This reef is at least 800 yards offshore...
I was out on a 9' board, when I noticed I was surrounded by jellies with 8 ft tentacles.
Didn't think it would be good to fall into that mess, that far offshore and alone..... so I grabbed a big board and enjoyed the pure glass!
A foil may have worked but you would be using a lot more energy and it would be hot over there. The jellies story reminded me of doing an over boom catapult into a mass of Portuguese man'o'war face first while learning to windsurf in RMI. Then I had to try and convince a local storekeeper to give me some vinegar on credit. Soon after some locals I knew pulled some leaves from a bush, told me to chew em up and rub on tentacles. Worked a treat.
If you're ever in Yamba or Hawaii around Thanksgiving PM me and lets go surf.
goggo.... hot is an understatement!
95 degree air, 95 degree water and high enough salt content that I felt like Beef Jerky after a 2 hour session
Yamba? How weird is this.... I was just exploring that area on Google Maps yesterday!
Thanks, I'll do that if I get back to OZ... Yamba looks amazing!
