Has anyone got one of these? If so what's your review on performance & construction.
Had my heart on a Sunova Creek 8ft 7" or 8ft 10" but cannot find one at a good price yet.
Cheers,
Wil
I had the 8'2 in the previous construction and wrote a pretty comprehensive review on it if you can find it?
Cant comment on the new construction but the previous one was incredibly solid and felt as strong as the strongest from any main brand I've tried, and stronger than many. It wasn't light though.
i think the 8'2 would be a different kettle of fish to the 8'7 and always thought the larger shapes would be a better allrounder.
good nose rocker despite the wider nose, also a decent whack of tail rocker. Took me a few frustrating sessions to get used to it- the thinned out, winged, channel tail compared to the fuller nose made it a bit unstable as it seemed to pitch front and back, in addition to side to side.
Once i I got used to it, the performance was epic. I had mine out In double overhead peeling waves to chop and smaller stuff. First board I've ever had as a quad that ripped as hard or harder than a thruster! The channels and tail rocker are an epic combo.
The rails were also very pinched and performance orientated.
For me if they had made it in carbon and made the volume placement a touch more linear to make it more stable it would've been an absolute killer! The longer and wider models probably have this sorted though? Seems like a lot of board for the price, although I haven't tried the new construction or seen what it weighs?

Wow! Beautiful board. Love the shape, the channels and five fin setup. Went to the website and the video was inspiring.
Great price. Let us know if you go for it.

I'd also be super keen to know the new weight and strength of that construction. Some of the finishing on mine wasn't perfect but it is a great price!
Nice looking board and finish..hell of a good price too..looks like the smallest is the 8'10 in this construction.

@ sup Maori- im pretty sure I had the only mano in nz previously, had to get a mate to courier it on a plane over with him as TSBW didn't send to nz then. Sold it to a dude down south who got rid of his Sb pro 8'5.
i think the larger sizes would be good, if they're lighter than the previous model
Thanks guys. Thanks benjl for your detailed reply.
Yes the smallest of this paulownia wood version is the 8ft 10" 29 5/16 wide 127.6 volume. Just about right specs for what I want for steep walled drops in big surf & choppy moving water.
I wanted something a bit more stable with a little more rocker than my Sunova Soul that is 8ft 3" 29" wide at 110 volume.
At the moment my Sunova is my go to board especially when cutting through chop. So smoooth. That's why Sunova is my first choice let alone its construction.

Wow! There some great Sunova demo boards at very good price points. There are times I wish that I was closer to Australia.

Thanks MangoDingo. Appreciate reply.
I had already seen them in recent past but thought then they were to big. But after some thinking later, I thought of going to the 8ft 10" as I wanted it more stable due to needing more confidence for a quick turnaround to catch big waves in choppy water. Nothing worse than falling off just as you paddle for your wave of the day!
Hoping to make a purchase within 3 weeks. So if its sold I will just have to wait for another while on a Wingsurfer. It's my first priority. Lol. Choices, choices. Haa!
No worries Seajuice.
Ha! Yes I hear you mate - it's a nice problem to have eh!
Good luck with the new stick and let us know how you go!
