WE where a little unlucky with the wind ,nature i guess ,but we got some good waves ,meet some top blokes ,caught fish off the back
food was perfect ,the trip before us had the best surf ever .and hardly no wind ,great experience .best thing was i didn't have to take a board ,with moon tours ,its always warm at the equator ,

A straight air - as in straight up ... and that's it, I didn't even worry about turning around and trying to come back down.

Sunny, there are certain questions you just don't ask ... a bit like asking a woman her age, weight or if she is pregnant!

Some great "Creek" comments on this thread.... I am stoked that you are happy with it!

This is my 1st vid in a while, because for the past 6 months, I was relying on a new camera.... that didn't like me.

I finally broke down and bought a new GoPro Sessions5..... after killing my Sessions4, during my first surf in Thailand.

A small Hurricane gave us some weak, but ok waves.
Summer crowds for an interesting day.... but lots of fun on my 9'1 Creek

the only difference to me on mine is that mine's red and yellow.
everything else the same...
OK, maybe not...I'm in a 3/4 Excel front entry sealed steamer and booties at the moment.
but that's the only difference...
really...

So does anyone have a comparison of the 8'10 vs the 9'1? Does the little bit narrower width and narrower tail have much impact?

I surfed my 9'1" yesterday with a guy who had the 8'10".
I'm 5'4" and 75 kgs (ok, 77 kgs...) and he was about 5'9" and 82-85 kgs, I'd say.
After we got through the obligatory "ooh nice board you have there" stuff we kept an eye on each other.
Nice 3'+ surf, easy point break.
He fell off a few times standing around, which I didn't do, but you'd expect that given that he was a bigger guy on a smaller board.
We both caught waves easily enough, and the Creeks are SO fast and easy to surf.
I would say it would all come down to what and where you surf.
I COULD go down a size, but I don't get to surf that often, so I need to make sure every surf is a winner.
We also paddle about a K down to the SUP break, running the gauntlet of the Grumpy Old Mal Surfers (hey you could make a decent acronym out of that, but it wouldn't fit, would it?), so a bit more length and width is helpful.
NEVER do I feel that the 9'1" is too big. It's speed, manouverability and comfort is just about perfect - for me, anyway.
Might be different if I was surfing, say, a Goldie or WA beach break.

I'm a about 97kg and find my 9'1 super stable in all sorts of conditions.

I was just considering a stepdown for when its super clean. I find the 9'1 a bit slow on making sections sometimes but usually it's pretty awesome.

I was thinking a 8'10 Creek or maybe a 8'10 speed. I surf about 3 or 4 times a week depending on work commitments.

P.s if you want to make your 9'1 a loose cannon throw a small 3 inch trailer fin in it. I've got it to the point where I can slide it so easily and its so fun.

Hey nugdam .
i don't think you would have a problem surfing the 8,10 ,I'm also 97 kg and found it pretty stable due to the wider nose .
what the creek added to these boards ,for stability .it is more stable than my 9.1 Acid .with also 125 litres .

Ive also toyed with the idea of a speed ...for speed ...they are narrower ..so you get more speed .
how ever you need to be on the tail for turning ,which is no problem anyway ,I ride all my boards on the tail so all is good .

i still like the flows ..I wish there had a 125 litre flow ..as 120 is just a tad to small for me ,and the 131 8.10 .is very wide in the tail ...which I didn't like ..

the 125 L .8.10 creek is a nice board ..it has good speed ..perhaps it likes a softer wave as it really takes off in really sucky waves .where the narrower tail of the acid or flash ,you can sit in the pocket easier .i like the way the speed tail accelerates on turns ,hence needing a smaller fin to loosen it up ...

if you like your 9,1 creek ..a smaller version would be great .you will notice heaps of difference .

Cheers for the input mate.

I like my 8'10 flow too but thinking of selling it as like you say it's slightly too wide in the bum and it's too similar to the 9'1 creek in board size...

I find I stomp the tail in most my turns so I think I could get alot of fun out of the speeed. But I do turn from the middle if I'm just in a cruisy mode or setting myself up.
