Looking at smik 8.3. Some good deals now on V1. Is there much benefit in going V2 for extra $600. Also coming down off a Jp surf 8.10 126lt this size seems a good performance upgrade for an 80kg intermediate? Any Spitfire users out there.

PM Scotty for details on differences. Only used an 8 5 custom (v2 I think??) at 105kg and very impressed in up to head and a half.

Got a V1 8'8" is the most stable board for size I've found, awesome surfer, easy to paddle! Highly recommend it. I'm 90kg the 8'3"would be fine for you.

Thanks guys mind made up, and think I will hold out for the V2, I like the look a bit better and I tend to keep my boards for a fair while. (unless I destroy them ) so ill go for the latest refinements.
My 2015 JP 8.10 Surf Pro has been a brilliant board but after a full width crease last year (repaired stronger than new) and now more chips than paint it is ready for retirement. You definitely wont see it in Buy and Sell.

Good call here is a custom that is very similar to the V2 in action:

105kg rider board is 8 5 x 30 125ish litres. Stability is very good for a board that size.
