Have really enjoyed the 12' Nozza.
Have not surfed him a lot, but I don't surf a lot.
Like him as an all round, surf, explore board.
But I must admit that my pushing 100kg frame tests the float a bit, so thoughts had been turning to a 14' Search.
But backtrack a bit.....
October me and The Wife One went to Mollymook / Narawallee for a week.
I took the bare minimum - OC1, F18, 11'6" TC, Nozza.
In the week I paddled one board.....

But not out there, just poked around the inlet.

Great board for that, easy to get off the car, I like the LiftSup handle.
Which is embarrassingly stuck up in that photo.
With Merimbula coming up, and thoughts of another Seabreeze saga, I was planning to order a 14' Search Nozza spec. from AA.
But he wasn't there......
Dylan was, but where was the story?
Went cold on the idea, to match the wind blown weekend.
Forget the 14'.
Back to Melbourne.
The Wife One has a significant birthday coming up next year.
She wanted to do a significant trip to match.
I was dreading Europe, wherever, no interest.
She came up with Ningaloo Reef in Western Australia - now I'm interested.
Drive or train over, car on the train, boards on the roof, dawdle up the WA coast, paddling, surfing, what could be better?
I had a rig like this in mind

The bare essentials.
Car would have to go by train one or both ways, drive too much.
No worries.
Initial enquiries by The Wife One suggested the height limit on the train was 1.94 metres.
That's somewhere just above the top sticker on my window.
"Couldn't be right" I scoffed.
Checked it myself, and took my scoff back.
I did the right thing and ignored the issue for a while, it came up again last weekend.
Rechecked height limits, the VW is out, we have access to a Prado that fits.
But nothing could be on the roof.
So boards would have to fit inside the Prado for the train journey.
Nozza wouldn't fit, maybe a 10'er, but I doubt it.
Inflatables?
I once suggested to Helmy they were better than nothing.
He disagreed.
And I agreed.
With his disagreement.
Stalemate - I want to have a board up that coast.
Fly, hire car, hire boards?
I like my things with me, want the car.
Morning of work today, snuck off for a counter lunch with Dennis. (Fully deductable training session if you work for the ATO)
Back at work, interest little, Tardy has put more photos up of the Black Acid.
The two piece Black Acid...
Cogs turned in my brain......

I say drive over, it is a great drive and lots of spots to stop in the middle of nowhere. I do love a road trip hugging the coast.

I drove over when I moved to Perth in 2001 and there are so many spots when you hug the coast it would be unreal, Head of the Bite in Whale season would be unreal, Port Lincoln, Cactus just past Ceduna and the Nullabour when you can go off road would be something to see and paddle. Make sure Wife One has a drone to watch for sharks!! Esperance is to die for for water colour and islands then you have all the coast up from there. skip Perth and keep going to Bemm River, Lancelin and beyond all the way to the reef.
Maybe I should buy a Caravan and do it myself???

I've done the Melbourne - Perth and return drive several times , mostly for sailing skiffs. Never really stopped to look along the way.
Current plan is we will drive to Adelaide, train to Perth and then head north, spend most of the time on that coast.
On the return trip I'll probably drive back on my own, taking it slowly and looking at places / paddling.
May see if I can enlist Helmy or Hugo to fly over and share the drive back....

From a 1981 drive - 2 x Kombis, 2 x Skiffs.
Sorry for the rude one at the end - we were young.

Another fully deductable training session at lunch today, afterwards thoughts turned to boards rather than work.
Blundered around in Photoshop.

Not the most undetectable job, but impressed I re coloured the fin and kept George's logo.
Discovered I needn't have bothered when Dylan just came through with this.

Colours need to be brighter, but I really love this....

Nozza - this is rad. I think you're channeling Lopez ( or maybe Greg Smith) with the 'Ningaloo'.
This is harking back to a different era and I reckon you've hit a vein of golden goodness.
My only thoughts are - the Ningaloo needs a swallow tail and the option for a thruster.
Mate , what if you hit Johannna and there's waves?

There's some black resin in there - don't want to encroach on your territory.
Ningaloo - typo on the top of the spec. sheet needs to be fixed

Updated spec sheet today, fix up the spelling errors etc.
I also adjusted the width of the colour bands to make the weaker colours more upfront.
Not sure if I have that right.

Looking better ...what about a full gloss black strip through the middle ? Followed by a brush colors through the logo
like mine .
that will bring out your bright colours .

Hey Nozza, what is "Carbon Compact", is it a lighter construction method incorporated into their XXX Tech or is it for the split board option?

Hey RbGar,

You are correct the carbon compact is the technology we use for the 2 piece boards, there are bits and pieces of information popping up here and there however we have been working hard behind the scenes getting everything ready for a formal release! Pre orders will open early in the new year and there will be a lot more information available very shortly!

Nozza and Tardy are very special as these guys have already got some 2 piece boards underway

In the mean time here's a sneak preview of Bert with his 2 piece longboard, he absolutely loves being able to take his 10ft longboard with him on his scooter, exploring new places!

Enjoy,

Dylan

its a fantastic idea .especially for SUPS, and sizeable long boards .(nice surfing Bert)
Which has always held me back on taking on a holiday .no more .

planes taxis lifts. I just have to buy a 3 piece paddle now .which will all fit in my 1,4 metre bag ..

i hope to get mine in the new year....as you say its shortly to be all revealed ...

Reverted to the original 1/3 colour split, upped the intensity of the colours.

The wait begins.......

Starting to look at the actual trip to Ningaloo for the Ningaloo.
Get some idea on a map where we are actually headed.

1200km north of Perth is quite a long way.
And Perth is quite a long way already......

The trip may be getting longer, with a side trip to Karijini National Park suggested by TalkenTony.
