Hey all
just after some advice on a beginner small choppy wave board. I've been flat water paddling for 4 years and now looking at an Allwave or Mana. I'm 92kg 181cm and no surf riding experience, so looking for a size that is very stable and forgiving.

Which size should I aim for and which is more stable?
Thanks in advance

Go a 10ft Mana, I have one and it's great fun.

Thanks mate. I was thinking a 10 for more stability and less frustration ??

If you want ease and less frustration go the 10' Naish mana as Dave said.they are easy to ride stable as,catch anything from ankle slappers to 6' reef and point breaks.change the center fin as you get better,I have a longboard footy fin in mine and it turns a treat.Sure they might be expensive in the short term, but will outlast any of the cheap mass produced Chinese boards that are selling, speaking from experience.they are called MANA for a reason .

I would recomend the 9'5" Mana over the 10' Mana and although it's not quite as stable it surfs so much better and is noticably lighter to carry.

I'm your weight.. I live in Melbourne.. Where are you because you are welcome to paddle my 9'5" Mana before you buy one to help you make up your mind.

This is a vid that I did a while ago that shows how good the 9'5" Mana is.. It's an awesome board.

Thanks for the offer. I actually ended up going the 9'5 in the end. Now to get in the water and have fun.

I'm also interested in progressing from flat water SUP to learning to SUP surf (I am 5'8, 77kg, Gold Coast based and currently have a Fanatic Fly Pure 10'6)

I have been looking at a second hand 2014 9.5 Naish Mana GS to learn to surf on ........... is this a good fit/size and has the Naish Mana's design/construction changed much between 2014 - 2019 modesl (wondering if I should be looking at a newer board)?

The Naish Nalu has been suggested as another good option for learning to surf ........ what size in the Nalu would be best for my height/weight?

Thanks for you advice!

Cheers

Hi sconner, the 9.5 mana is a great board to learn on,and surfs pretty good ,nice glide

I had the 2015 ..
i now own a 10,6 Nalu .as my small wave board .seem you already have a 10.6 the 9,5 will be more of a throw around .
you may even be ok on a 130 -140 litre 9 footer .
