Ok new 3 piece Fanatic paddle has jammed and cannot be pulled apart,WTF? Yesterday I had no problems but today it's jammed, can't push it down further to loosen the top section and the paddle end won't budge, any advise?

Are both joins jammed or just one join?

It was both but managed to get the blade end off last night, so the handle is still stuck fast. I tried knocking it down to help move it but now it's all the way down and fully stuck.

I always reckon a fixed paddle is best Dave but a good drench in oil and a bloke on each end will get it moving ,or a good karate chop , I'm not much help

Try soaking it in a bath.. Then with both ends ankered push and pull sideways where the join is to weaken the sand and salt that's causing it to jam.. Then try twisting with two people.. How are the joins locked? (push pins ?).. With all two piece paddles (and windsurfing masts) always seperate after use and try not to leave them joined overnight or longer periods.. You could also try a strap type oil filter tool to grip and twist without slipping like your hands do.. Good luck.. If you bring it to my place I'm happy to do it for you.

Thanks DJ, I attempted to seperate just as I came out of the water and it's a no twist handle piece so no chance of that. My wife is only 50kg so she cannot anchor herself enough so will need to wait until I get back from Noosa on the weekend.
this is my travel paddle only so all my others are fixed length, not a good ad for having one?

For windsurfing masts, the problem was sand. Even just a tiny bit of it would get down between the parts and get stuck there.
It was very common on windy days to have fine sand dust get in your mast, the trick was assembling the mast immediately before getting it out of its bag.

If you did not disassemble your paddle, it can also be salt grains.

The best solution was rotating the parts: clamp one wishbone (I always had a spare) on each part and twist.

If you cannot rotate, as DJ said, you can try to flex it underwater, or you can try to picture the position where the grains of sand would fall out of the join and hit the paddle to make it vibrate like a bell, and hope the grains will slowly dislodge.

I had this happen to me on my 3 piece paddle. The top was really stuck, also could not rotate it. My solution was to find a sturdy wooden slot (like a vertical pieces on a railing) that I can fit the handle through vertically but not horizontally. Then work it out like a slide hammer with the top handle captive in the slot. Spraying some lube in there will help. The impact force was the key rather than trying to pull it out. Many whacks did the job. Make sure the slot is sturdy enough for all that force. Wood works well so it does not damage bottom of handle.

as Colas said, sand gets in there good luck !!

Just a warning. If not patient with oil and water and flexing to break the "stuck" and instead, using a lot of force, you can destroy the shaft. Saw this happen with a small WS mast, when they put three people on each part and tried to twist. Also, a pipe wrench can crush the shaft tubing if not careful. The impact method makes sense using the fence.

To prevent this locking, I use a bit of electrical tape over the joint seam each session. One can use the same piece of tape many times, keeping it wound on one part of the tube when not assembled. Unlike paddles, the WS mast inserts into a cloth luff sleeve during a session, however, and this covers the tape. Not cool, but function over form.

Success! Just had to get home and unscrew the clamp at the top and used the fence yank as per earlier suggestion, worked a treat. Luckily I only intend using it in emergencies or while travelling, now it can stay in 3 pieces until next year.
