Are Sunova and One your only options for a custom race/downwind board in Australia?

Having had One build me two custom boards (surf and fast flat water cruising), I'm looking at options for a dugout choppy water/downwind board. Are there other options besides Sunova & One?

i have the basic design, just haven't got the time to build one myself.

Fire away...

Deep Oceanboards maybe? Pretty sure they do customs and I'm 99% sure they do a dugout board

Dale Chapman (DC) still does customs as far as I am aware.

I'm sure there are others as well, what about DC and I am sure a few others are out there.
We have been working hard to expand the custom program and with the slight restructuring we have done have now made the custom side super affordable as well.

I guess making a big unlimited board or Dugout might scare some away who are not that used to them. It also seems alot of companys dont really care about the race side to much with there really not much money to be made on this side of the industry and the ones who are still there are more of the ones who just love making the harder stuff.

I guess choices are semi limited but all the choices that are there are pretty good and really just depends on what you are wanting and looking for in the board as to who can develop it the best.

Like the other customs I have, this will be a development of what already works and will work for me.

Just remember shapers/designers have massive egos/agendas of what something with their name/brand stamped on it will relay to the public, lesser shapers/designers will let you entertain your weird ideas and turn out something truely grotesque with no testing or protos....good luck

I would add DC (Dale Chapman) to that list as well, legend shaper, paddler.
I haven't had a Sunova board yet but would have no hesitation in recommending them as I know they are quality, I have had a couple of DC customs which were fantastic and currently have a ONE Storm (not a custom but at the time it was pretty much exactly what I would have wanted anyway).
Whilst I still love my Storm, I have a few ideas that I want to incorporate into my next downwind board but the Storm 2 has pretty much moved in the same direction to what I was thinking anyway.
I might still add a few of my own ideas on my next one though unless Ben can give me a reason why they won't work.

I reckon we are spoilt for choice for custom boards in Australia, not sure you can go wrong (unless your ideas are waay out there)

I have a competitive sailing background, so am well aware of the process of incremental development.

Ben was very good to work with on both occasions previously.

I'm aware of some ego's out there. I'm not a fan of the big ego.

How can this thread be in "general topics" part of the forum. ...must surely be in the "board talk" department?
