Super stuff Casso. You must have awesome balance.
What's it like waiting out back ? I have the 7'7 (original Flow) and I really struggle at 62kg particularly when paddling on to wave . I have held on to board but should probably sell....but once on wave it is a lot of fun. I can only use in glass small conditions when not too packed (which is not too often)
Looks quite snappy , and a few nice dismounts scary stuff when the board comes back at ya like that ..nice surfing dude .

Pretty much I dive through wave and let board behind as safely as possible . That is why I use a leash shorter than board . The hardest part of SUS is off wave not on wave . Board "management" through whitewater and when exiting surf can be the stuff of nightmares at your local "break" ...excuse the pun
Nice surfing casso!
I wish I had some decent waves to run my Flow 2.0.... you are making it look fun!

Doesn't a short leash mean you can't dive deep enough under the whitewater to prevent being dragged by a tombstoning SUP? a short leash also means you and the board are close to each other when you're being tumbled in a wipeout.
I like to have the scope to be as far away from the board as possible when needed.
Nice flow there Casso...looks like a fun board that is aptly named

Stamp a 7 foot leash on an 8 ft board in surf less than 3ft is no problem from my perspective . I don't go out in anything to big . But even in small stuff white water can be an issue . A longer leash means I am putting others in danger and also it takes longer to reign in when I want to get back on the board

Fully agreed. I only run 7foot leash now. It makes board recovery so so much easier and alot less dangerous of anyone in the white wash as well.
Great video Casso, is that he old Flow my 1 model ?. Must admit loving my Casey Flow and looks great in bright red.
On the the subject of leash length, always used a 7 ft DaKine Big Wave on all my boards under 9 ft. The benefits of a swift recovery in the surf out weigh any disadvantages. This saved my ass on Friday from getting an additional pounding from a overhead set at Strickos on Rottnest Island after an early fall on a big drop.

Looks like the tail from flow1
The old Flow model seems to have less volume than their new sibling that everyone is raving about . I can tell you the 7.7 original version I have is a real challenge but awesome once I manage to catch a wave which has not been that easy . Personally I am surprised that the new version would perform better at higher volumes . Must be some magic in the rail or shaping

I guess it depends on the wave someone is surfing, but in general, the person in the most danger from your board, is you. People often ask me about the danger of the reef, and I tell them the real danger is the board. Rule #1 in a wipeout is to get away from the board. Go off the front of a 10' board with a 7' leash, and it's going to be a bad day. I've seen a shoulder dislocation from this.
A 7 foot leash on a 10 foot board is crazy in surf.
You are right . Aim #1 is get away from the board and keep it away from others

Yep - it's a v1 Flow but in the TR3 construction.

It's a little hard waiting out the back - 7'10" v1 Flow with 92kg on board. Worth it once you are on a wave though and a good core workout when you're not!
