'Sup SUP'ers,
Hoping someone has tried this...
Ive got an inflatable Starboard that I pump up to around 20 psi, I broke the manual pump last summer and got a 12v one, that only inflates to 15/16 psi.
Thinking I could get a Schrader valve attachment and once 12v has done the hard work I finish last few psi with my bike floor pump.
Wondering whether there is enough volume in the bike pump for it not to become an entire workout?
cheers!
I'm sure it will work but it will take a long time due to the low volume of the bicycle pump.. Where do you live because someone here might have an old kite/sup pump you can have.
There are high volume/low pressure mountain bike pumps that wil be much faster than most bike pumps and still easily get you over 20psi. Check out the online MTB parts and accessories sites . In Aus MTB direct has this one, which I bought a while back. Shifts a lot of air. Ignore the attached blurb as it becomes very difficult to pump over 25psi despite saying it will go to 75psi. www.mtbdirect.com.au/topeak-joe-blow-mountain-floor-pump
I did a search for "compressor converter nozzle" and "kite bike pump adapter".
Both returned an adapter with a screw on valve at one end and 4 nozzles to fit SUP and rubber boats and stuff. They look like they would be compatible with an inflatable SUP.
They're different to kite adapters and kite pumps don't go anywhere near enough pressure to pump up an inflatable SUP. You're normally pumping kites to 6-8 psi.
I would love to have an adapter to use a bike pump on a kite or wing. I've got spare wings and kites and board and foils and I can repair almost anything enough to get in a session. I've only got one pump so if that dies I'm stuffed when it comes to wind sports. Pumps are a bit bulky to carry a spare just in case.
DavidJohn I'm in Yarra Valley, will consider another pump if this option doesn't work thanks
Gregjet, yes I'm ride road and mountain bikes so have a high pressure/high volume floor pump similar to what you're showing so that's why I had the idea cheers
Gorgo, yes red paddle co sell the adaptor from Schrader to SUP and the rest I've found are eBay ex China.
it looks like I may have to be the bunny here, but one and see how it goes! If takes too long, then I'll look for another SUP pump, but if it works then it's one less pump I have to take away with me!
cheers

That pump shown is LOW pressure/ High volume. I moves a lot of air per pump but gets hard to pump above about 25psi.
I had an old kite pump you can have (if I can find it) but I'm not sure if it has a gauge.
appreciate the offer, I think I should be able to work something out ??
