My understanding is that the 2022 Naish SUPs, like the Mad Dog, are made in China? Has anyone noticed any issues?

Hi mate, I have a 9x32 Maddog and have had no issues with it. Seems very well made and after nearly a year of use its holding up very well.

Even after I surfed onto a nearly dry rock shelf and destroyed the fins, the board took no damage, including the fin boxes.

The only marks on the board after a year are a few small paint chips on the tail just after the rail tape ends.

The Maddog impressed me so much the I also brought a 10x29 Nalu, I did crease the first one by not pulling off a very punchy wave over a shallow sand bar.

Any board left in that spot would have had a problem. Indeed the second wave snapped two fins clean off at the base and still the fin boxes where not damaged. My brother in law is repairing the board now to use for himself.

I like the Nalu so much that I replaced it straight away with another, such is my belief in the Naish build quality and more importantly the performance of the boards. I would recommend Naish boards to anyone, and I paid for all my boards and am not affiliated with any shop, importer or Naish in anyway.

Hope that helps.

Stephen.

Great and thanks Stephen for the confirmation. I was just surprised to see the Made in China sticker on a new board and mistakenly believed they were made in the US.

I want to get the exact same 9ft 32x Mad Dog. How are you liking it so far? I'm used to the 9 ft Hokua 32x.

By the way I see the boards also have what looks like a new air vent screw with a hex head shape. Do they come with a socket tool for it?

Hi mate, I really enjoy the Maddog, for its width it surfs like a smaller board. It's very stable if there is a bump in the lineup. You can easily pump it like a surf board to generate speed and the fin setup lets you change it to either the conditions or your preference.

I will be looking at the 8'11" x29 for my next board, that little narrower tail would make it surf rail to rail easier. If I know the surf will be clean and smooth without much wind, I take the Nalu, anything else and the Maddog is first pick. It's a board that you will never out grow, and can be your one and only or a board for days that are not perfect, so most days

Stephen

Sounds like a goretex vent - so you leave it alone

However worth a freshwater rinse now and then and leave board upside down, so salt crystalisation doesn't block it.
