My old wind meter, anemometer, just gave real time wind speed and min/max, got a new one that averages wind speed for 15 seconds, thinking the average speed will help me better select the right sail, wing and shims, for foiling. Too often I am over sailed, or under winged, using real time wind speed.

What brand and model is your new anemometer?

BT100, also tells temp, and holds settings for temp and wind speed units, $27 US on Amazon, uses 2 AAA batteries.

Hello,

in general I look at 60s measurement and base on average wind, max gust/min wind and frequency.
I do 2-3 measurement once on the spot looking at sea state and riders on the water as on some spot wind can be different on beach compare to 300m further away on the water.after I will select my kit and tune it following need.

Have to say, using the 15 sec. averaged wind speed has helped me rig appropriately again and again. Now I am glad my old wind meter died a saltwater death!
