Great vid. Sums it up, everyone concentrating hard, sailing hard, but no risk to life & limb & very, very enjoyable. Plenty of risk for the nose of my board. Shame it wasn't a bit windier for Remi & Rick to enjoy. Given there was quite a steep chop & you were doing 27kn, I don't know if they would have been in front.
Results for Heat 2
Results for "common" GPS races across all competitors for interest sake only, fin, foil, fin + foil
So on the day for the combined GPS session;
Fin was the fastest in the right hands both in peak and alpha.
Boston mixed it up getting a 2nd overall in Race 2 for the Alpha on the foil.
Foils proved their worth for this event allowing slalom to be ran in less than ideal gusty and shifty conditions where fin could not be ran and a course would have been exceptionally difficult to get right.
Some more photos from my trip out. Unfortunately the Race3 video ran out of battery so I won't post it.
Looks pretty bleak for a Summer race series !
Unreal day and it is amazing how we can get so overpowered on the foils just goes to show how valuable they are in the light shifting brease.
please show the video of race 2 and you beating me in the last 1 m of the race by a whisker I loved that kind of racing don't care you beet me just enjoyed it.
we are all a winner just racing with each other.
is the event of 8th and 9th Jan confirmed?
cheers,
Matteo

I'm looking forward to the event! and the sealed road!
the races a few years ago were awesome!
I had some good times even though I was riding an old paddle pop iSonic 121 and a foil 8m sail on my slalom board.
I also remember a few of us foiling into sandbars. Oops.

Road is still unsealed
Day 1 - good turnout and nice NE seabreeze conditions. After a 30 min GPS to warm us up, the race committee sent us into 5 rounds of slalom. Byron, Berowne and Murray on foils took the early wins, but Remi came back to take a few wins with his fin as the breeze filled in. Lots of good stories and cold drinks on the shore afterwards
Similar NE seabreeze is forecast tomorrow, day passes are available (ask nicely for a gate code at the reception/cafe).
The racing up at Myall Lakes Slalom 2022 Championships has been epic!
Very tricky conditions on Friday gave foils the advantage, especially out of the gybes if a lull hit when you arrived at the mark, and the fresh/brakish water had many boards stall or even sink! Day 2 was definately for the fins with 15-25kt conditions seeing almost everyone on Medium Slalom boards and 7.7m sails.
Below Starts are from day 1 and finish line is day 2
Great Weekend to wrap up the season.
Final results of Series to follow in coming days.
