Anyone seen the new inflatable board from Starboard in the wild? Interesting concept with the hard plate on the top, so rides more like a hardbaord. Also "edge release" suppose to help with getting up

Yeah there is an interesting side to the design, but I feel at the same time it is also the Achilles heel, you effectively lose 5cms of your regular mast, so who is going to buy a new mast just for that board, only to find that once you move on your mast is now more than you need (I have admired starboard as a brand but I haven't really found their wing foiling boards to be very interesting, just my own personal feelings)
I've had a couple wing boards with the plate on the bottom and I am not a fan. Unsure if it's the lack of stiffness or the excess thickness but everything felt disconnected and unstable.
If this fixes those feelings I'd gladly lose some mast length.
hello, as Newby the forum I'm not allowed to post links but there is a 1st review by mackiteboarding om YouTube
They need to do a bit more work on it for me. I don't like that foam thing around the mast + screws are exposed from the top, right under your back foot. These 2 give it a bit of a cheap impression. I can also see myself or my kids losing that foam bit. Still feels a bit like an unfinished prototype at this stage.
It says "The system is compatible with top plate foils. The foil position can be trimmed within 5cm".
So it's working only with few foil models/brands.
