Get the pop corn ready ,here we go again on another Custom ,8,10 Insane , This will be more for bigger waves ,and more volume than the standard insane ,for older dudes like me I find a little extra volume helps with catching bigger lumpy waves which i will be using this one for only going 1,5 more litre than my 8'8 flow ,I'm using the Acid rocker line with more nose kick for Gnarly drops (suggested by Dylan ) ,going Deep Purple matt with silver gloss ..and brushed on the bottom letters also gloss ,Dylan said he will send Photos as it's progresses in the next 3-4 weeks .enjoy the ride .
YEW!!!! Looks sweet Tardy! Round out the quiver perfectly.
That Casey board looks mint, just the deck pad doesn't go... must be small with no handle...
Nice one Baldy ,have to agree with hoppo, Pad would of looked better a darker colour ,but nice shape .do you know what model it is ?
Hey Tardy.
i think that board pictured is the Casey Throttle. I didn't look close enough at the dims though! Finish on the resin tint was very good. Sunova only offer two shades of grey pad, light or dark. Keep us posted on the progress of your custom, looks awesome!
Thanks Dylan and Shaw for the Photos ,I love watching a plan come together . almost ready for the paint shop .love the shape ,
Looking good, really like the rails
Keep the updates coming
Yeah I'm digging those rails too gonna be easy to use YEOW
cheers Dave ,a few more touch's to go on it yet ,a couple more weeks ,then the long wait .till August . but it will be worth the wait ,
Tardy,
Looks mint!
Have you noticed any difference in surfing them between XXX and the newly constructed boards?
Dunno how I feel about wood join right in a structural zone, and even worse almost in the same place top and bottom....
If I can't use continuous wood (or foam) from end to end I save the short bits for kiteboards. I'd never join laterally.

Good question ,i do notice A little bit in the flex ,but over all, the pine is stronger in the fin box area ,I must admit
I am hard on boards ,but when the Balsa breaks it really breaks ,I tend to do fins in ,like ripping them out ,but the new pine
the fin rips before the board ,The Balsa seemed to cave in before ripping the fin out ,I guess I am a good test as I surf reef breaks
and rocks ,but for me I think I like the pine because it is stronger ,I do fix my own boards ,I am a bit more careful with the board now ,but a oops will always happen ,
Mark, I guess long lengths of glued balsa would be length wise a bit stronger if you are thinking of snapping a board in half ,
but I've had the Pine TR3 for a few year now ,and I can honestly say they are very strong ,I've had good size waves break on the TR3 boards
like dragging you the hell in size ,and they have handled the punishment .Sunova boards are Tough ,thats the main reason I stick by them ,plus the shapes surf like shortboards ,which I don't do anymore .I have not had a Sunova board fail me yet ,
Thanks Tardy. The fin comment is interesting as the Balsa boards have High density foam and a big plate (essentially) of glass and balsa securing the fin box... The new design loses that as it's not meant to need it.
Tardy,
Looks mint!

According to Dylan Burger the XXX is 'technically stronger" but in practice not a lot of difference.

Yes ,with all those boards glued together XXX is probably the stronger one ,Dylan would know .
most people won't be ripping out fins like my rock surfing ,XXX defiantly looks better ,
I think it is $ 400 difference

With the finish you get on your boards it probably doesnt make that bigger a difference. i bought a kanga in recent times and went for the the xxx but i paid for the privilige. 9' kanga, a great board.
I've change my design a bit felt the bottom was too different to the top ,so because my board was still in the spray booth I was able to do this ,what are your thoughts ,
Thanks hoppo ,I just got these photos .YEOW .thanks for the Photos Shaw .and thanks to the team at Sunova for another ripper Job
I'm in Love
