super interesting .... I had a contest wave production 256 back in the day and loved the speed and graphics ..... interesting how he comments was basing rocker lines off surfing , as the di Scacio rocker was always perceived as way faster than Hawaiian rockers used at the time - and that's what set Polakow apart in terms of speed - and fact he was riding pintails vs very rockered assy's which were vogue when he broke through ...
Disagree though re how waveriding hasn't moved on in some aspects from back then (di Scacio comment) - You look at the turns being done now by Browne and Siver for example - they are way above and beyond ANYTHING that singles were doing back in the day !! ...., I can't think of a single aspect singles did better ,...... anyways - great vid ... thanks Mr Bellan ... lets keep the good windsurfing. vibes going in the face of adversity ..... !
Wayne Lynch and Maurice Cole windsurfing in the waves at Bells ! So much history and respect, modern "eurocentric windsurfing" has lost the soul and tradition of the past although the performance is better today. Michael De Sciascio makes a good point and surfing is more accessible and more popular today in Australia and has a beauty in simplicity lost in windsurfing. Now of course Australia has a great heritage of windsurfing often forgotten. Clearly no one cares, not that it matters. Paul thanks again, if you find a 1982/83 Rip Curl wave classic video of action at Point Danger with Dire Straits soundtrack that would be an eagerly awaited relic to publish on your you tube channel. Rip Curl has lost the video.
another frickin awesome video.!
kinda forget how good jason is. he was doing stuff in those videos 10-20 years ahead of most. freestyle moves on the face, double forwards and fully tweaked re-entries.
maybe the reason wave sailing hasn't improved much is because people are only just catching up.
I wanted one of those when I was 16! Our local beach side shop had one on display. It never sold and never got used.
Can any of you guys in Torquay sneakily copy a template????

It would be a crap board now
I have an old strapper lying around in the shed. I don't know anything about it except it is twice as old as me and barely floats under my 60kg. If someone wants it they're welcome to take it.

Thank you very much. Sadly, I live on a little Island off the south-coast of the in the UK, so I will have to politely decline. Offer is appreciated though.
Eric Thieme F808 Tiga team using a Strapper Wave circa very early 1990s. Strapper was the board to have.
Quickly spraypaint a euro brand onto an aussie custom for the photoshoot. The stencil is even wrong on one side.
I see nothing has changed
