Austin Kalama has just taken the sport of Stand Up Paddle Surfing to a new level. Not only is he up in the air, foiling on wave, but he's worked out how to perform complete aerials with his Go Foil!

Rewind the clock 12 months and Kai was first dreaming about doing downwinders on his SUP Foil. The beginnings of SUP foil still involved taking a hacksaw to boards, and a comprehensive knowledge of composite construction techniques.

Look at it now! Not only can you buy off the shelf SUP foils, but boards, and aftermarket wings, and watch videos all night long about SUP foiling. You can even dive deep, deep into the Stand Up Paddle forums here on Seabreeze and read about surf hydrofoils for hours on end. Not only has technology progressed, but the riders choosing to paddle on foils exclusively have become very, very good at it.

Paddlers like Austin Kalama from Maui, who was handed a SUP foil the day after Kai Lenny proved it was possible, and rarely put it down since. This week he's gone on record with a video taking it to whole other level. He's pulling aerials on a foil, and he's busting out 'alley oops' of waves too small to ride with even longboard sized SUPs!

Check out the video to see proof, this discipline of the sport isn't going away. It's not a fad. SUP Foils are here to stay, and we haven't seen anything close to what's possible yet…
